Marvin A. Schwam
Owner and President - 1968 - 1988
Marvin founded M. Schwam Floralart in 1968 to service commercial locations with artificial plants and flowers. He then started offering Christmas decorating services to his plant and flower clients and this is how American Christmas was born. Marvin was an artist and he built these businesses on the strength of his extraordinary creative ability. In 1980, he started a third company called Display Arts. Display Arts was the first company to manufacture and sell animated, mechanical, holiday figures direct to the consumer. The “Animated Little People by Display Arts” became very successful. In 1988, the Corporation, including the flower, Christmas and animated doll divisions, was sold. Marvin then orchestrated a deal for his son, Fred, to buy back American Christmas.
